Morjim is a village in Pernem, northmost administrative region. Situated on the northern bank of the Chapora River estuary, is the peaceful Morjim beach, which is famous as “Little Russia” because of a large number of Russian immigrants living. The place is also a nesting site for the famed Olive Ridley sea turtles.
There are many upscale restaurants as Lemongras, Divine Gypsie, and beach resorts such as Leela Cottages and Morjim Hermitage, which are very popular with the tourists. It also has a happening night life with clubs such as Soma, Sporting Heroes Rocks, Marbelas’s and well-known Bora Bora. To the delight of travellers, there are Yoga, Ayurveda treatments, spas, and wellness treatment centres.
Fun activities include the popular kite surfing. Another popular activity on the beach is observing the habitat and nesting of the Olive Ridley turtles, if one is lucky enough. From Panjim, Morjim is a 26-kilimetre journey, which can be reached via Mapusa where there are buses that connect to Morjim. Apart from the buses, there are cabs and taxis that can be a comfortable ride to Morjim.
