Located about 18 kilometres from Panjim and situated in Bardez administrative region, Anjuna is a pretty village of North Goa. Housing famous churches as St. Michael’s Church, founded in 1595, one of the oldest churches in Goa, Anjuna is part of a 30-kilometre stretch of beach coastline along the west coast of Goa by the Arabian sea that begins at Fort Aguada and continues to Sinquerim Beach, Candolim Beach, Calangute Beach, Baga Beach, Anjuna Beach and then to Vagator Beach, finally ending at Chapora Beach and Chapora Fort.
The beautiful village of Anjuna sits between the Arabian Sea and a hill overlooking the beach. With its palm trees and soft sands, it is a treasure of natural beauty and makes for stunning photographs. Frequented by backpackers and hippies, the beach is known for the famous trance parties held. The place is also famous for flea market where everything right from fruits, jewellery, clothes to electronic items are available.
Being one of the very well-known beaches in Goa, Anjuna beach is well connected by regular state and private buses both from Panjim and Mapusa; hence after taking a ferry to Ribandar, tourists, via Panjim that is only 6.6 kilometres away, can go to Mapusa, where there are motorcycle taxis, auto-rickshaws and cabs as well to reach Anjuna.
